Guest vr6galaxy Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Not advisable to fit Mk2 rims to a Mk1 :D cant remember why exactly but it's mentioned on the TIS  Quote
andysrs Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 r u sure as i still have the 3 spokes of my mk1 galaxy ghia they have same pcd and same offset as my mk2 vr6 ones!!!!!!,any how they may go back on yet the way the wife drives the "18,s will be wrecked by the end of the year  Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 its a set of 15" im after ..my tyres are nearly new so i can just get em fitted to alloys...thanx anyway... Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 IIRC it's to do with the shape of he shoulders on the bolts? I'm at present 300+ miles away from my TIS so I cant look at it! it's not something I pack when I go on holiday  Quote
wonkydog Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 I am on the lookout for some bigger (than 15") alloys for my Galaxy. So will have a set of 3 spoke 15's and tyres for sale when I find the right ones. Why do you want to move from steels to the same size alloys? Is it just the look? Does anyone have any 16 inchers for sale? I have been scouring Ebay for a couple of weeks now and either need decent postage or a seller close to Hampshire/Berkshire. Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 the tyres on my steels are almost new and it makes sense to me that because im after some alloys to make the gal look better that i get some 15" ones then i have me a spare set of tyres....email me plz wen u have the 15 inchers for sale...cheers Quote
Guest MATT Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 As VR6 Galaxy said, it is something to do with either the holes in the wheel, or the bolts shoulder, not fitting correctly, meaning you can't put the bolts in all the way (somewhat dodgy in my opinion)Â MATT Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 gettin desperate for some alloys now....does anyone know if alloys from any other car will fit the galaxy Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 Yep loads B) as long as the PCD (112x5) and the offset are the same you can fit rims from any other manufacturer :D you can get rims from Merc, Audi, VW in the correct ofset and PCD and even PCD adaptors to fit Porsche rims to your Galaxy :D unfortuantely my list of compatable other manufacturers rims and the cars they fit is in the back of my Hanyes book, which is the back of the Galaxy, not a problem you say? but it is when the Mrs has gone to work in it :) Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 no probs mate..if u cud let me know the list wenu get time i would appreciate it big time ...cheers Quote
Masked Marauder Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 As VR6 Galaxy said, it is something to do with either the holes in the wheel, or the bolts shoulder, not fitting correctly, meaning you can't put the bolts in all the way (somewhat dodgy in my opinion)Â MATT Surely a new set of bolts will sort this? wonkydog Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 I won some new 16" alloys on Ebay last night. So my set of four 15"ers and tyres are up for grabs. If you want them, PM me your email and I'll send some photos so you can make your mind up. No dents or scuffs to speak of, but the paint has started peeling off on the centre caps. Quote
wonkydog Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Sorry, my 15"ers were taken in part X for the new tyres on the 16"ers so have gone. The new multispoke Ford 16's look great. Seems to handle the corners better. Just need rear wheel drive now to get rid of the wheelspin! :) Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 finally got some 15" alloys...they were off a 1997 audi a4.......just one quetion left....will i need to get some different wheel bolts or are the std ones long enough...also where is the best place to get them from (if i need em) apart from the fraud squad...can i also get different centre caps and where from...cheers Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 c'mon guys... :) ...does anyone know if i need to get longer bolts for my alloys Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 You need to know how much of the thread is in the hole in the hub? really you need someone with standard alloys to remove one and measure how much thread of the bolt pokes out the back of the mounting face? the try it with one of your alloys and see what if any the difference is? then get longer bolts if needed? Quote
steve67car Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 just take off one bolt and put it through the hole if less than 15 mm then look for some new ones and a specialist alloy wheel centre should help you on that one :) Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 job sorted...std studs are fine..thanx guys.... Quote
